      Hello! I plan to overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 after upgrading its RAM.
      These are the components:

      Operating System - Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32-Bit
      Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz, Socket 775 LGA, 4mb cache
      2.00 GB of DDR2 800 RAM (2x 1024MB DIMM)
      Display Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT, 1024MB RAM
      Motherboard - ASUS P5B

      I would add a pair like these:
      Kingston HyperX Blu 1GB DDR2 800 PC2-6400 CL5 KHX6400D2B1/1G RAM Memory

      The cooling is standard, but with the CPU fan changed to a better one
      than the one that came with it, quiet and about 10-11 cm.

      Should I update the BIOS? How is it updated? My plan is to change the FSB from 266 to 400.
      This way it would be the same as the RAM and with the multiplier of 9 it would give me 3.6 GHz. I have doubts:
      -In the "CPU-Z", in the "CPU" tab, it says: "Rated FSB: 1067.6 MHz". What is this?
      -In the "CPU-Z", in the "Memory" tab, in "Timings" it says: "FSB:DRAM: 2:3". In the BIOS I will have to change this,
      right?
      -I assume that by setting it to 3.6 GHz I will have to increase the voltage, starting by testing with 1.368 v
      or something like that, how do you see it?
      I'm completely new to all this, so I appreciate any help (and YES,
      I'm already reading all the guides). Thanks in advance!

        Overclocking is a world of trying, making mistakes, and learning little by little. I can tell you roughly that you can start by raising the FSB to 333 and lowering the multiplier to 8. This would give you a speed of 3.0. To do this, you will need to raise the voltage. Look at your micro's VID with Core Temp. This will help you know if the voltage you are applying is excessive for your micro, and also to know if you have an overclocking micro or not.

        My Q6600 2.4@3.2 has a very bad VID, it is 1.325v which I think was the worst VID for the Q6600. This does not prevent me from having it at 3.2 (4008 and before I had it at 3339) but if a lower VID had come out, I could easily have it at 3.4-3.6. From there, raising the voltage and temperatures is excessive and not worth it, but I can tell you that it is noticeable to have it at 2.4 to have it at 3.2 ?

        So you know. Even on youtube you can search and there are relatively easy guides to do OC to a micro like yours.

        Explaining more, it will confuse you, so even if it is a bit abrupt, start like this and you will polish the OC.

          as for updating the BIOS.. I would advise you not to do it.. it is a process in which if something goes wrong when copying the files the motherboard can be left there and say goodbye to it ``dead´´ and more if you are touching voltages and testing the micro overclocking it don't even consider it.. but anyway.. I'm not very expert in OVERCLOCKING and I think that here you can get a lot of help.

            The first thing is to set the memory to 667 so as not to exceed its specifications when OverClocking; then set the Vcore limit which will be over 1.2 by default; it would also be a good idea to lock PCIe to 100 and disable Spread Spectrum.

            From there, you can start testing, you could start with 310, if you see that the maximums do not exceed 65º with CoreTemp for example, you can try the 3GHz (333 FSB). If it fails you can give it more voltage but, it is better not to exceed 1.3 for the moment (you can monitor voltage with CPU-Z), and always keeping an eye on maximum temperatures, if you see 70º for the test.

            To check stability you will need at least 8 hours passing the Prime95 test.

              The temperature is already good for overclocking, it has dropped quite a bit.
              The idea is to set the FPS to 400, and since the RAM is 800 (400 real), I can set the ratio to 1:1.
              The BIOS version is 0701, I won't touch it, it's one of the latest good versions.
