Hello friends, well it's been over a year since I've been on the hardlimit forums, a site where I learned a lot at the time but which I left a while ago because it has become more and more complicated and it has become difficult for me to keep up with the trail of modernity, age does not spare.
Well the thing is that my diplodocus is starting to fail and I need to renew it so I would like if you could give me advice on what parts to buy because I am no longer up to date on any component and since everything I have in the box is obsolete I would need to fill it again, I don't want anything too powerful because I think that whatever I buy I will notice it immediately, in principle it would be something to browse, some simple game that doesn't need many resources, watch some movies, some office work, some homemade video, in short something mid-range more down than up.
I have thought about buying a power supply, motherboard, graphics card, memory, processor, heatsink and master disk I think I don't need anything else to fill the box. (I would keep the keyboard, the mouse and the monitor) I won't be able to use the rest because it's old.
I think it would be good for me to have usb3 and sata3, as for sound I would like it to be as quiet as possible.
I saw in a post that it seems that it's good to buy at pccomponentes, I used to buy at pcbox because I have a store nearby, as for assembly I think I will assemble it myself if the assembly of parts hasn't changed much because in my time I assembled some PCs for me and my friends.
From now on I already thank you for your answers and for your interest. Salu2.

hello, if you indicate which components you have and above all what budget we are talking about it would be easier ;D

Hello, thank you for your reply. I think the only valid components that I can keep are the ones I told you about: the mouse, keyboard, monitor, and the case. The rest is a 486 processor, 2 gigabytes of PC 400 memory, a bad generic basic 500W power supply, an MSI Neo2 865PE motherboard, a 760GT graphics card, a 500GB SATA hard drive, and a Philips burner.
My budget is more or less 400

            Hello

You can take advantage of that 500Gb sata and that recorder, even if it's the secondary disk to store data.

And if you tell us how much you would be willing to spend (budget as CNCBCN comments) then we can already start looking at what you can buy :sisi:

            Greetings

Hello, if you had already thought about using those parts the hard drive as a secondary and with the recorder the problem is that it's IDE and I don't know how the port issue is on the new boards, on the other hand I don't use it for anything currently, the budget well I don't know, I think maybe 400 but it wouldn't be a problem if it was a bit more

put something like that, it goes a bit over budget, but it's pretty good
400 euros is not much money for a decent pc

                regards

                  +1

For that price I think it's one of the best you can put together, if anything, some faster memory, a slightly better graphics card… but that's adding money little by little, although you'll definitely notice it.

As ferelxyx already told you, 400€ is very little for a decent computer, if you can expand it even by 70 or 100€ if possible, things will improve quite a bit.

                  Regards

I wouldn't mind an extra 100 euros either, I don't think I'll need the recorders, I don't use DVDs or CDs, if anything I would use the one I have at the moment if I can connect it to the motherboard or find an adapter.
As for the case, I think I could make do with the one I have.

so the window or the linux how do you plan to install ? almost all if not all modern motherboards still have the IDE connector

Be very careful, don't let the size of the case play a trick on you, especially with the power supply or the graphics card.

If now that you mention it, it could be, because I have no idea what the cases are like now. The one I have is large with four bays for 5 and another four for 3.5
the measurements are more or less 50x60x20
