You have understood the opposite, I was saying that games usually make use of FPU, not modules or HT. The thing is that it also depends on the game, they have improved some things and also bring new instructions (AES) that are noticeable in the programs that use them.

Just with 7-Zip it seems that they go pretty well jejeje.

I think an i5 is guaranteed effectiveness and versatility. Right now I wouldn't be sure about going for an AMD unless it was a top of the range at a very low price, and I also don't think I would get as much out of it as I would with the i5...

So the Phenom II X4 955 performs a bit better in current games and in single-threaded programs... is that its only advantage? Then I guess my final decision will be based on the price of each one, but if the FX 4110 is sold at prices that are around the web, I will opt for the latter.
It is to be assumed that software is moving towards multi-threading and, if so, the Bulldozer is a better decision in the medium to long term.

How do you see the reasoning?

Well, in multi-threading that take advantage of the 4 cores, the PhenomII X4 also perform better... Buying the FX-4110, AMD is the one who wins, because it is simpler and cheaper to produce than a Phenom. That FX-4110 are two modules that execute 4 threads partially, the Phenom X4 has four full cores, it will always be superior. In the future it is expected that Bulldozer will scale easily to 4,6,8 modules (8,12,16 partial threads), but that FX-4110 of two modules does not have much future.

The fx-8xxx seems like it will stay in a watered-down state because it performs even worse than the 2500, but it has to be said that it's a great move by AMD to maintain compatibility with am3, just for that it's almost worth it, considering how many platforms we've had with Intel already... and the ones that are still to come.

It makes me sad because it seems like a very well-worked CPU, maybe soon they will start to compete on price, but it's clear that in terms of top performance Intel is 3 steps ahead, maybe too much considering the quad-channel memory of the next lga 2011, but it seems that this is what the neophytes like, big dumb...

Although in the "series" cooler they are ahead of Intel!

PCComponentes already has a price for the FX 4110….. ? I don't know if it's possible to be more indecisive than I am right now.

Without the price being an important factor, you say the X4 is better. But I don't understand why. It's what I said before: 32 nm vs 45, less heat, faster clock speed, more cache... and yet, it's worse. Are there really any tests of the Bulldozer's performance?

But they are always going to try the best and most expensive!! They barely say anything about the FX 4110 anywhere…

I think there is a review where they made the 4 cores/8 modules work like a 4100 by capping it.

Not specifically the 4110, but you can get an idea with the results of the 8150, they give both an oc and superpi as high as the Sandy (hwbot.org) and you will have that with any model. What does is that you can see that they perform a little more than the phenom but as if they had half the cores, so to match an x4 you would have to go maybe to an fx-6xxx. And saying this is repeating what has already been commented…

But I don't think anyone can tell you until you see more data, you'll have to wait ?

I have not yet used a stock cooler. I have 2 TRAY and a 775 whose cooler is still in its box.

Hello everyone, looking for information about the x4 955 and fx 4100 I have arrived at this thread and I find myself in the same situation, it is difficult to choose between the two although in my case the balance is inclined towards the 955. I am going to take the plunge.
I want to configure the 955 for gaming and I don't know much about it, so I ask for advice what would be the best configuration (better motherboard better graphics card...) to get the most out of a 955?

By the way, good price/performance choice the 955, don't forget to put budget. If you're doing well with money you could look at an Intel i5 2500K. In the short term, investing those almost 100€ extra from Intel in graphics will yield more, but in the long term, Intel could give the edge where the 955 won't.
