Four major players in the memory device market such as Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony and Sandisk have joined forces in an alliance that aims to increase the security measures of these products.
The four companies will look for alternatives to protect the content that is stored on memory cards, embedded memories as well as storage devices with flash format.
The first measure they have set is the development of a new technology that will aim to protect flash memories and also has the commitment to prevent the copying of illegal content in high definition format.
We are talking about “Next Generation Secure Memory Initiative”, a technology that is based on the creation of unique IDs and wants to provide greater protection over the content that users store in their memories.
In this way, it is hoped to keep the data included in smartphones, tablets and Blu-ray players safe.
Yoshiyuki Miyaki, Technological Director of Panasonic, has pointed out that thanks to this technology, premium content will arrive without problems to smartphones and tablets.
