Apple is researching MacBooks that run on hydrogen
-
The giant Apple is seriously considering using an alternative way to power its devices and increase their life up to weeks.
A couple of patents discovered by AppleInsider reveal that the company is working on batteries that could run on hydrogen to power its MacBooks; which would reduce the size, weight and cost of the same.
The patents were filed in October, so since then the apple giant may have been experimenting with this new form of battery.
The system would include what is called a “fuel cell”, which is a device capable of converting chemical energy from a fuel into electricity thanks to a chemical reaction with an agent such as oxygen or in this case hydrogen.
The MacBooks would therefore include this “battery” that converts fuel into electrical energy and a controller that manages the operation of this system.
These hydrogen devices would also have more advantages: they can support large volumetric and gravimetric energy densities. Speaking in silver, the life of the laptops could be extended for days or even weeks without the need to “refuel”.
This move by Apple is also related to its eco attitude and its desire to explore new sources of renewable energy, beyond the dependence on current fossil fuels.
PD: already the beginning of the article produces astonishment (in the case that it is carried out, since if it is made public…) PATENT then come the courts, etc.... That is what I think is great about betting on other types of ecological sources and forgetting about fossils another word that produces astonishment less to the archaeologists.:D:p
