Intel announces the expansion of its Thunderbolt technology

The semiconductor manufacturer Intel has announced to its partners that it will extend its Thunderbolt technology from April 2012 to more PC manufacturers.
Apple is currently the only supplier of computer products that uses Thunderbolt technology. Hand in hand with Intel, the Cupertino giant is accelerating its standardization.
The giant chip manufacturer is even willing to release the technology for public use in the face of the growing demand for it.
But the cost of Thunderbolt chips amounts to more than 20 dollars. It is for this reason mainly that it has not received much attention from the IT industry when it was announced. However, in the context of economic instability, the cost is expected to fall in the second half of 2012.
In addition to this, since Apple adopted this technology in most of its products (MacBook Pro, iMac, MacBook Air or MacBook Mini), demand has been boosted.
The next to adopt this technology will probably be Sony, the computer manufacturer Asus, which expects its adoption to be destined for high-end laptops and Gigabyte, which intends to use it to strengthen its presence against competitors such as Asus or ASRock.
