Lenovo shows off its two new ultrabooks
-
The Chinese company Lenovo has launched two ultrabooks that join the ThinkPad X1 model and position it as the main manufacturer in this segment.
The new arrivals are the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid and the ThinkPad T430u. The first (will arrive in the second quarter) is available in three options; it can be chosen between an Intel i3, i5 or i7 processor. The screen, of 13.3 inches is practically the same as the previous version, but there is a differentiating feature.
It has to do with the word “hybrid”. The device includes a Qualcomm dual-core ARM processor and up to 16 GB of flash storage. The Instant Media Mode (IMM), which is activated through a button in the Windows 7 environment, allows the user to access a customized Linux environment for uses related to multimedia, navigation and daily tasks.
The battery lasts ten hours in this way, while using the traditional Windows/Intel platform its life is halved. It will be available for 1,599 dollars.
The other model that the firm has announced (which will arrive in the third quarter of 2012), is the ThinkPad T430u. It is a different approach from the previous one. In addition to being more affordable (849 dollars), it has a 14-inch screen and offers a wide variety of Intel Core CPUs and optional Nvidia graphics.
It has a useful life of six hours and one can opt for an SSD instead of a traditional disk drive.
