Sempron or Celeron
-
Hello, which is better a Sempron 145 socket AM3 (2.8Ghz) or a Celeron dual core E3400 socket 775 (2.6Ghz)? Is there much difference between the two? -
I would go for the 3400. To compare the performance and overclocking of any processor you can use Overclocking, overclocking, and much more! Like overclocking.

You can get a little more out of that E3400 than the Sempron, which is also a good guerrilla

It also depends a lot on the motherboard you are going to mount it on, that can vary the performance in an important way.Regards

I have assembled several of those Sempron processors, and more than half of them mutate without problems to Athlon II x2, which works great, and also overclock easily to more than 3.5 ghz.
The thing is that if it doesn't mutate (which it can be), the Celeron is a much better option in my opinion.

These AMDs only compensate if their cores are unlocked, because no matter how much it goes up to 3.5GHz it will perform like the 3400 at 3GHz, not to mention that it will very likely go up even more.
