Well, since we're on the topic of Linux distribution releases, another one, Mint, which in this version will have two types of similar desktops: MATE, which is based on Gnome 2 2D, and Cinnamon, which is based on Gnome 3 and requires 3D acceleration but is better adapted, not like in the previous version ?

I think it's very positive that there's more variety of environments in Linux besides the 2 big ones, which although they're always based on one or the other, give different aspects ?

        Totally agree. For tastes, desktops.

When I have a moment, I try this version even if it's on a virtual machine.

By the way, it's in the nº 1 of the ranking of distrowatch very very far from the second winner and I know that it has been in that position for several months. There must be a reason for it.

I have been using Linux Mint since almost its inception and I have ended up using a clean installation of Debian with the Gnome environment installed :ugly:

That is, Linux Mint was my favorite, VERY simple and comfortable interface from the moment of its installation, without having to touch anything.

I will try it when I deliver the final project of my degree.

          Greetings!

We hope they have fixed some of the problems that version 12 had.
After installing it, I had to go back to Mint 11 because when I had the Netbook running on battery power, the screen brightness went crazy and started flickering. After researching the solution, I couldn't fix it.

            Best regards.

Well, I've already tried it on the laptop with Cinnamon and it's like the typical Mint interface but with Gnome 3 core, it still has some old stories like the way to edit the elements of the bar in the gnomo 2 style (damn spell checker always touching the…) but it's not bad. The truth is that I like Gnome 3 better as it is and that in Fedora there isn't a damn theme that works with the graphic engine it has but well Adwaita power!

Really the success of Mint is the decadence of Ubuntu for using Unity and its visual organization similar to windows that makes the change easier because the rest doesn't have much merit. Technically I consider Unity superior, although visually I don't like it too much.

Of all, I put my hopes in Elementary and its lightweight system based on ubuntu, if they continue within a few years it can be a pretty interesting minimalist system. And for anyone who wants a lightweight system I like the xubuntu xfce that my father has on his netbook (before my netbook... XD).

PD. It doesn't work on the desktop... linux will always be linux :troll:

I've been living my life away from the Linux environment, but when I finish my exams I hope to get back into it this summer. After a compilation of Fedora-Mageia-Ubuntu around this time last year, I abandoned everything and when university started I threw it all away for good ?
By the way, good luck with the XaviJS project ? and thanks to Bm4n for the contribution!

                Best regards!
