Perhaps the reason why many laptop graphics are not changed is because some are well soldered to the board, the damn thing

          Best regards.

Well, I have contacted several stores and none of them touch laptops, they say that they are integrated into the motherboard and that they don't touch them, the Madrid technical service of Acer only collects the PCs and sends them and the parts store in Barcelona... anyway... the girl was in a bad mood and I only heard shouting and insults before I hung up... (she must have had a bad day and of course they weren't going to help me but apparently before putting me on hold she let a conversation be heard... anyway... tomorrow I will try again to see what they tell me...)

I used to have another Acer and the graphics card was not integrated.. the truth is that if the new ones come... it will be difficult to find a solution, I have not opened this one yet... it only has a year... anyway, tomorrow I will ask about the 660m and if I find it I will tell you... =D

I have an Acer Aspire 5930, with a go 9600gt, and it actually goes in an mxxm module type 2 (thanks to this I was able to bake it to do a reballing without putting the whole motherboard in the oven) but as far as I know Acer has stopped using the mxxm format for a couple of years now. Also, the other problem is that it's not like with pci express graphics, that the format is backward compatible, the different types of mxxm are not compatible with each other, so you would have to look for a card with the same format (for electrical and cooling reasons) as your machine, and mxxm cards are incredibly expensive compared to regular ones.

Cid111, if you find out anything more, please comment. I'm interested in this topic, if there is an option.

Things are looking pretty bad for me. Still, I think I'll open the machine to make sure:

Let's see.. at first I didn't know about the different versions of MXM and while searching I found:
Mobile PCI Express Module - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
                where it explains the differences between MXM models;

Then I don't know why all manufacturers put... compatible with pci-expres 2.0 when in reality it's an integrated type CUDA (fermi) and I think it comes integrated on the board although in some models it doesn't come on the board but on an additional board that is inserted by pci-expres; but... I don't know what to think.. my model is the 5742G in the 5920 it seems like it can be removed.. if I search according to my graphics card 520m it's an integrated circuit... I don't know.. I think I'll have to open it... the technical service still hasn't answered me.

                Fermi architecture:
NVIDIA - Last generation CUDA architecture, alias Fermi

                assembly: acer 5920

The story is that pci express is not the socket, but the interface. You can have a pci express 2.0 graphics card with the chip soldered to the board, since in a graphics card that socket only serves to carry the traces to the chip. It is not the physical connector itself, but the way of communicating.

I think I explain myself badly, I don't know if you understand what I mean.

The 5920G is compatible with MXM type 2: http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/Table.html
I couldn't find any information about your computer.

Okay, it all makes more sense to me, while looking for information I saw bus and confused it with the zocalo itself… okay it makes more sense to me now ? I can't find anything on my PC either, in fact if I search for my model they say it comes with other features..... :S I'm starting to think I've bought a poltergeist or some kind of joke :S

If the 5710 series comes with type two and the next one too.. it wouldn't be unreasonable to think it comes the same way, right?

Ugh, I don't know what to tell you. Most likely no, because I think they stopped making type 2 models a long time ago, like three years. It's possible that the 5742 has nothing to do with other 57xx

The problem is that it is very difficult to find where they sell it, at a reasonable price and then that it is compatible (connector, standard, consumption, refrigeration). And that's not to mention that some already solder it, but hey, by searching and searching you can always find what you need.

Nothing, some don't respond and most agree that it comes soldered on the board so I'm left without graphics... to be honest, for now I don't want to lose the warranty by disassembling the PC just to check ? joke with the laptops they play hard....

Now that laptops are increasingly powerful and capable of running many games with ease, many people have asked me for advice on replacing their large and cumbersome desktop PC with a laptop, which is beautiful and versatile. My answer in all cases is whether you really need mobility for a laptop. If not, a small desktop (small in space).

And one of the main reasons is this: if something breaks, it is likely that either the repair will cost more than the laptop or you will need a new laptop.

Each device has its own area of work, no matter how much the manufacturers try to sell us other stories.

I know that there are people who do reballing on the motherboard and in the process replace the graphics card, but usually it is because it does not work and is replaced with the same model, mainly because of compatibility issues.

                            Best regards.

you are absolutely right Nemo, except for one point: sometimes the "laptops" only have the name (if we consider that a laptop is a device that can work without connection to the electrical network and that can be transported without ending up with a hernia) few of those that are really portable can run a current game with some ease.
