Partitions in Windows 7 64 Bits.
-
Hello:
I have the disk partitioned into 3. One part for the operating system and so on, another for photos and another for music.
So I'm going to format it and since I've never done partitions with Windows 7. I suppose that if I format it, what I have in the partitions that are not where Windows 7 goes... Will it still be there after formatting? :ugly: Well that's it. If I format and tell it to install Windows on C:/ I suppose that when reinstalling Windows the other partitions... I won't lose the data, right?
I have other external disks but full. In the same way. If I then cancel a partition. Do I have to move the data that was in that partition to another partition beforehand so as not to lose it, or will that data be automatically moved to another partition?
I explain myself very badly... :troll: If I have the Disk with partition 1 (where windows goes), 2 and 3. If I delete the 3rd. Does the data disappear or is it automatically moved to another partition, such as the 1st which is to say the partition from which all others start?
Best regards and thanks for reading my rant.

As far as I remember, it leaves the partitions in peace, but just in case, it pulls from Dropbox or something like that.

If you delete a partition, you lose access to its content.
Regarding installing without touching the ones you already have, it can be done but it would be by deleting the first one, so that when you tell it during the installation of W7 that you are installing it in the free space, it creates the new partition (C), and another small one that it uses for internal files.
As always, it's better to have a copy of everything, because there is always the risk of having a playful finger that touches where it shouldn't :mudo:

The best way to avoid confusion is to rename the partitions with names that you can quickly identify (Data, Movies,
Porno), so that when you are in the installer you can identify them perfectly. Then, you delete the System partition and, as Fassou says, it creates a 100 mb partition at the beginning of the disk and another of the rest of the old System partition with Windows 7. The rest (Data, Movies, etc.) are left intact.Best regards

Thank you very much to everyone. I will see if I can format it tomorrow, as I have a mess today. Uff, I love how well a newly formatted computer runs. ;D

Newly formatted computer. It has respected the partitions. Wow, how smooth this is now :troll:
I will reinstall BF3 that I hadn't played for months :ugly:
Thanks to everyone.
