      The WD Black series of disks, formerly known as "WD Caviar Black", is characterized by superior performance compared to other models from the company, without reaching the speeds and prices of the VelociRaptor, but with a good price-performance ratio. Now the company has announced the availability of a model in the Black range with 4 TeraBytes of capacity, accompanied by 64 MB of cache and with a speed of 7200 Revolutions per minute, with a 3.5 format. In addition, its integrated controller has a dual chip to achieve higher data transfers, taking advantage of its SATA 6Gb/s connectivity.

      The price in the United States is $340, including a 5-year warranty, so it is likely that when it arrives in Europe its price will be around €300.

        interesting, but not for me, I have 1.36 Teras and 1.26 free. Since I chose to put photos, music and other things on external drives, I don't need a large storage capacity and losing information on a 4 teras drive will always be easier than losing it on two of 2 teras, no matter how much guarantee I have.
        regards

            You get a better deal with a 7200.14 3TB RAID 1 :ugly:

            Gigabyte motherboard with microSSD and 6 of these ¿Pa qué más?

              @Obione:

              You get a cheaper RAID 1 of 7200.14 3TB :ugly:

              Gigabyte motherboard with microSSD and 6 of these ¿Pa qué más?

              Or even better a 0+1 to have backup

                For me, the advantage of these disks coming out is that they make the rest cheaper.

                Out of curiosity, I have noticed that today the price of a 1.5 Tb disk is the same as it was just over a year ago (a week or so after the floods) and as the producers said they were not going back to pre-flood prices, the new sizes are making the price evolve (with a one-year delay).

                Having 4 Tb would be pretty good, but not at that price.

                  I suppose someone like Pako will get something out of it, but the rest of us mortals, who knows...

                    Dude, if that's the case, get yourself an SSD, you'll love the performance boost.

                      Man with RAID 0. I can't complain about having three hard drives
                      Best regards
                      pD before an SSD I would have to upgrade the graphics
