      Hello everyone!

      I'm starting to tickle my newly acquired FX6200, and to do so I have replaced the stock cooler with a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Pro, which has lowered the temperatures by about 5º-7º.
      I have an Asrock 970 Extreme4 motherboard, and G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600 memory.

      Well, the only thing I've touched is the multiplier, v-core voltage, and memory, which I've set to manual at DDR3 1600. With the stock voltage (1.350v) the processor runs stable up to @4.00 ghz. From there, it's time to increase voltages :wall:

      My intention is to reach 4.4 ghz processor. I tried booting at that speed with 1.4 v-core but as soon as Windows opened the computer froze. Should I touch other values like FSB or the motherboard's chipset? Would it be enough to increase the v-core voltage even more? And if I lower the memory speed would it help?

      I've been looking around the internet for the values that people have with this processor, to have a reference and get an idea of what it can overclock, but there's not much.

      I'm a bit lost as you can see :ugly:

        Update:

        I am testing with the multiplier at x21.0 (4.200 ghz processor) with the v-core at 1.385 and after an hour of stressing the processor with Prime95 I have no errors.. that is, the micro's temperature touches 70º at times :ffu:

          Check that the TX3 is properly fixed, have you put thermal paste or are you using the one that came with it?

            I put thermal paste that came with the heatsink itself, also from the brand cooler master... A "thin layer" as they recommend. And I would say that it is perfectly placed, although it did cost me a bit to be honest.
            Temperatures as I say are quite high, reaching almost 70, but I'm talking about running Prime95 on the test that stresses the processor the most and besides that copying files from one hard drive to another and playing a movie to load the system even more, so as you can see I like to test stability very thoroughly and give it a real beating, even at some points I try to play Pro Evolution 2012 or F1 (they run jerky in those conditions, and it's no wonder :frio:) for 10 minutes while doing all the other tests (Prime95, copying files..)

            After a whole day of testing, touching only the multiplier and v-core voltages, I draw the following conclusions:

            • With stock voltage it is stable up to 4.0 ghz (I remember that this processor comes from the factory at 3.8 ghz)
            • At 4.2 Ghz it is stable with 1.400 v-core
            • If I want to go up to 4.4 ghz, 1.4125 is not enough, so I would have to raise the voltage even more, which I think would be too much already.

            The memory is at DDR3 1600, I haven't touched it, I haven't touched anything related to the NB either... suggestions or do I stay as I am given the temperatures I have?

              By the way, the program I use to monitor temperatures is "AxTu", from Asrock… If I look at others like CoreTemp, it gives me temperatures about 8-10º lower, so I don't understand it.

              And another thing, even though I have deactivated Cool n Quiet, C1e, Turbo Core etc., there are times when the processor speed drops to about 3.2 ghz ¬¬ Why??

                On the one hand, I would use Artic Silver as thermal paste, which is among the best on the market, and check as you have been told if the heatsink is properly fixed and centered. On the other hand, I recommend that you increase the multiplier without touching the bclk at reasonable intervals. Using a program to test the overclocking, the prime in custom. When increasing the multiplier, you will have to look closely at the processor voltage and check what voltage the CPU PLL has by default. Look for the threshold and you will get an idea of how far the processor goes. Then you can try starting from stock and increasing the bclk (we have a reference of CPU voltages from previous tests) but then you will have to look at the voltage of the chipset, memory, CPU PLL. As the references you have from other people are just that, references, this is where you must pay attention to what voltages will or will not be correct and modify them according to the needs of the hardware.
