Kingfast launches the K25 Ultra Cache SSD
-
With this device it is possible to accelerate the speed of any hard drive by working as an intermediate cache.
The concept of using an SSD to cache a larger mechanical drive is not new, in fact hybrid drives are based on that same principle, and we have also seen some PCI-Express drives like the OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid. Kingfast's idea is to offer a small capacity SSD, specifically we are talking about 32 GB with a speed of 270 MB/s and 190 MB/s sequential read and write respectively, together with a program to convert it into a cache for any available hard drive, thus accelerating its operation. The chosen program has been the NVELO DataPlex SSD, and along with the drive we will get a license.
You just have to connect the SSD to a SATA port and install the software, indicating which drive we want the new cache on, and it will start to work, without the need to erase or manipulate the data previously contained in the drive in question. In this way, the most usual data on the drive can be accessed more quickly by taking advantage of the much faster access speeds of SSDs.
The Kingfast K25 Ultra Cache SSD has a recommended price of 58 dollars.

Interestingly NVELO, has just been acquired by Samsung

Salu2!
