      Hello everyone:

It turns out that I want to change my 8800gts (g80), and I'm looking at graphics around the world, I've set my eyes on a gtx295 and I'm looking at comparisons on google with 3dmark06 what happens is that all the benchmarks are with OC, I would like to be able to share impressions about the performance of this graphics card.

My micro is a q9550 and 7 gb 800mhz with a lamentable P5B-DE from asrock

      Many thanks in advance <:(

        Hello:

Your micro with Overclock is still a very decent micro, I have a Q6600 2.4 with OC to 3.2 and the graphics card doesn't choke because of the micro, there isn't much of a bottleneck. Your micro should go up more than mine if you have good dissipation.

My question, why that graphics card? It's very greedy, noisy, hot and old, besides being DirectX 10. Nowadays I would go for another new graphics card instead of that one. I think your micro with Overclock could even mount an Ati 7580 or an Nvidia similar to the Nvidia 660, which perform similar to the Nvidia you want. The Nvidia 295 needs a very good power supply. Also in the long run new games will run better on more modern hardware than on the 295.

Good things about the 295... well, it still has a lot of raw power today, just like the 480 GTX, and since it's very hot, it will be useful to keep the room warm now in winter ;D

Buying a graphics card like this without a warranty, knowing that they can blow at any moment more if the owner has done overclock... I don't see it. Doing OC to a micro doesn't entail much risk if it's not very aggressive, a micro lasts for years and before it blows it will be too small for you. Graphics cards are much more delicate and in the long run OC affects them much more.

        Here's a review: Nvidia GTX 295 Review » Page 12 - Testing: 3DMark06 Professional - Overclockers Club

In summary, it's a good graphics card even though it's DirectX 10 but I wouldn't buy it unless it was very cheap, this is like half of a 7850 of 2 Gigas, and that it was very well taken care of by knowing the owner.

Now, you are free to spend your money as you want, but I tell you that your computer with a nice graphics card can still give a lot of fight.

As an owner of a GTX295 for a long time now, I have to tell you a few things.

First, you need a good power supply.
Second, you better have good ventilation in the case.
And third, don't buy it, today there are many better options. The GTX 480 has similar performance, costs a little more, but consumes much less and has DirectX 11, much better for modern games. Besides, being multi-core makes it only give its potential in games optimized for it.

+1 to both and I have a 280 for sale …. why? because it's noisy and hot and it's not very efficient for what it consumes
            regards

I wouldn't put a GTX295 in a system with a socket 775 and I tell you this from experience because when I bought the GTX295 I plugged it into an E6600 and a P5N32 SLI and it didn't give it everything, it was when I switched to the 920 and the P6T Deluxe V2 and it seemed like I had a new, more powerful graphics card.

As they indicate to you with a GTX480 you have a very similar performance but it's monogpu.

                  Best regards.

Well yes, I have it in a drawer and I prefer to have a 260 plugged in, it's that even if you put the Q6600 at 3600 it's not worth much, that card is too unstable on 775.

For example a 470 worked much better for me on that system, it's a P45 but the 295 got up to 95º and with the fan at many revolutions, it's nothing like how it goes in a better system, that's why it's better if he wants Nvidia to put a 470,560ti or 570 if he finds them cheap, AMD should also work better for him a 6970 or something similar, the 480 of course performs the same or more and they are found cheap.

they should work better especially much more stable.

                    Best regards
