Hello this is the topic:
I have 2 PCs
1 for doing video tasks, games etc and a "server"
Config of the first PC:
Processor: i7 3.07 First generation
Board: EVGA 3SLI
Memory: 12gbConfig second PC:
Processor: i5 3.10 Last generation
Board: MSI Z77MA-G45
Memory: 8GBmy question is, the i7 first generation (the first config) is still better than the second one?)
I appreciate your comments Thank you very much

The first one will be an I7 950 and the second one an I5 but at that speed there are several micros. I would almost say that for games it will be more decisive to have a better graphics card, without knowing the exact model of the I5.

My idea is to change from the i7 config to the i5 config to stay playing (designing) with the i5, for the video card there is no problem because both towers have two 570 GTX but I am not sure how much the change from i7 to i5 affects me
since the processors are not compatible (with the boards to change them) so I have two video cards in the msi but they are very close and generate too much heat in the video render so I want to put the two video cards with the EVGA board that has 3 video slots with space to cool down
so that's why I ask the question

The old i7 LGA1366 still wins by brute force, but the new generations of chips have new instructions and optimizations that improve their performance in demanding applications, like the ones you mentioned.
Try to run a test with the programs you use most of the time, to determine if those optimizations surpass the power of the i7 and its TriChannel.
Salu2!
