Will the change from GTX295 to GT 640 be very traumatic?

The other option would be to buy the 640 directly and keep both. The investment would be around 80e.
Can you have both plugged in and one without power or screen connector without problems?

If I sell it for 95 counting the 80 investment I would have 170, what would that give me? (it's not that I don't know how to add, it's that you have to subtract the shipping :ugly: )

      Edit: How about the 560TI?

What I would do is get rid of it and go for a 560 GTX TI as you indicate or a higher one. As you indicate that the budget is not high, that guy from hard2mano is a "geek" with all due respect to the world of graphics. He has all kinds and loves to test them, so you could sell it to him at a good price, because I know he does a lot of trading with graphics. You could even get a 560 GTX or similar from him, just ask him because I know he has quite a few graphics from what I read about him on the forum.

The 560 GTX Ti should be enough to play in Full HD without filters in a decent way. Maybe not with all the Ultra-High, but it should run okay, which is what it's all about. Techno says that one of his alone wasn't smooth, I suppose it will depend on the map, players etc. And you have to take into account that your micro is weaker, but if you lower some details you could be able to play in Full HD. I suppose Techno is demanding seeing his equipment, with the games. If you want the game not to drop below 60 frames, you have to go for something more powerful. If you accept some drops but generally exceed 30 without problems, the Nvidia you indicate could be your graphics, but not a lower one.

The only bad thing is that the 660 GTX is very expensive, because the 560 already has some time behind it.

I don't think it's multiplayer, but it will help you get an idea: Optimize : Battlefield 3: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 | GeForce

Also look on Youtube, there are many videos of how the graphics perform with BF3.

Finally, I don't see the point of having a 295 GTX almost unused and buying another. I have a couple of crappy graphics like the 8400 GS saved in a drawer to build some equipment with parts and stuff or in case my graphics go, to get by until I buy another, but don't have a 295 almost unused when you can still get a good price for it today.

I have the 560 Ti installed on 3 colleagues with a 22" monitor at 1920x 1080 in high and it works perfectly for them, I would opt for it out of all the ones you put because of the budget and said compatibility, is the 560 without Ti also not compatible with you? I think it would work well with the game and maybe you can get it cheap.

Well, the GT640 will probably be insufficient for BF3, but with a second-hand GTX460, which I see shouldn't cost more than 60-70€, you could manage very well.

Anyway, if it helps, my brother is playing now with an 8800GTS 640MB (G80) and visually I don't see it as bad... he doesn't complain since he's not used to powerful computers xD
Anyway, he had an 8800GT before (mine previously) and the poor thing died... and I had nothing else on hand to leave him... for now, but I'll pass on the GTX460 soon.

Anyway, if you're not very picky, visually speaking, the GT640 will do the trick, but I wouldn't opt for anything less than a GTX460 ;D

                Greetings!!

P.D: yes, the 8800GT will soon go to the oven, along with an HD4850, to see if I can resurrect it a bit:ugly:

zupernico is the user I'm telling you has a lot of graphics cards. If that's the case, send him a private message in case he has something. I know he buys a lot of graphics cards to run tests on them…

As they told you, nothing less than a 460 GTX. I would go for a 560 GTX Ti if possible. But I wouldn't build anything less than a 460 GTX to be honest. I had a 4770 which is similar in performance to an 8800GT and I couldn't run it well even at 1024... with full servers it would crash if you encountered an enemy within a meter... so at Full HD... the graphics card would probably explode :ugly:

That, that, ask him if he releases any at once xD
Zupernico is a careful graphics hoarder... he takes everything from the old generations, 8600, 8800, 9600, 4850... he should be banned from hard2mano for attempted monopoly :ugly: he has already frustrated several purchase options for my PC2, which has been without a graphics card since I set up the crossfire :wall:

A good change, a powerful graphic, and with less consumption than your previous graphic, in addition to being fresher.

GeForce GTX 295 vs GeForce GTX 560 Ti – Performance Comparison Benchmarks @ Hardware Compare

According to this comparison, the 295 has much more raw power than the 560TI, but I suppose it will be much more optimized, especially for having dx11, which the 295 lacked.

We'll see when it arrives how well it runs on OSX.

Don't trust those charts. It's best to go to the tests:

                                AnandTech - Bench - GPU

                                AnandTech - Bench - GPU11

The 2950 GTX had a lot of raw power, but nowadays I would prefer a 560 GTX TI like yours, because of consumption, because it doesn't perform that badly, because of temperatures, because of drivers… In fact, with current games, the 560 should perform even better, and over time that gap will increase. The 295 was a very good graphics card, but today, despite maintaining its type, there are more efficient graphics cards that perform the same or better.
