Problem cloning two screens
-
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and I have a problem that is driving me crazy. I want to clone my computer to a TV. I have an NVIDIA Ge Force 8400GS card connected to the TV with a VGA cable and to the computer with a VGA adapter to the card connector. I have updated the card and have it programmed to clone my screen. My problem is that on the TV screen, I get a message saying "display format not available". If I set it as the primary display and drag the desktop icons to the TV, I can see them but only on one screen and I want to work with both screens at the same time, that is, clone them. I don't know what to do. Maybe someone can help me. Thanks:ffu::ffu::ffu:

With Windows 7, pressing the Windows+P key, have you tried the Extend Display or Duplicate Display options?
Best regards

Thanks I will try it this afternoon the thing about extending the screen the thing about
duplicating the screen I don't think it will work for me I have the thing about cloning which is what I have tried I have Windows 7
I don't understand the thing about pressing Windows+p I will tell you later goodbye -
I have tried what you told me to do, to duplicate and extend the screen on both the Nvidia card and the screen resolution, but I can't get anything to work. I keep getting the "screen format not available" error. I don't quite understand what you mean by pressing Windows + P. I'm not sure if it's to enter the screen resolution settings or something else. Can you clarify that for me? Could it have something to do with the connections? I'm using a cable with VGA connectors on both ends, and on the computer end, I have a VGA adapter connected to the DVI-D card connector. The card only has two outputs: a VGA, which is where the computer monitor is connected, and a DVI-D, where I have the TV connected with a DVI-D to VGA adapter.

That message comes up because the external monitor does not support the resolution you have assigned to it. Try different configurations with lower resolution. The Windows+P key combination is a shortcut to access the screen settings options. From there you can set whether you want to use only the computer screen, duplicate screens, extend screens or only the external screen.Un saludo

You are right, I have checked the TV instructions and it says that for a VGA connector you have to set a resolution of 640x480 60hz, I have set it and finally it appears on the TV, it looks good, but on the computer it stays super zoomed in, I have tried to change to another resolution but it doesn't come out anymore on the TV, it only leaves it in that resolution, I don't know if you can set the TV to one resolution and the computer to another, well, I am already getting something, let's see if I can manage it, if you come up with something for the computer resolution, let me know, I am very grateful to you as I have been with this story for more than a week, greetings and thanks ;D;D

I can already see the TV and computer cloning in both places, the only thing is that the TV only lets me set a resolution of 1024x768, so on the TV I see it fine but on the computer I see it large, if I change the resolution of the computer I stop seeing it on the TV. Does anyone know if it's possible to set two different resolutions, one for the TV and another for the computer? The card I have is an Nvidia Ge Force 8400GS Version 314.22. Thanks and regards :wall: -
Yes, but as an extended desktop, not cloning.
Salu2!

What do you mean that I have to put the desktop as it is laid out and not cloned? I have talked to a computer technician and he told me that when I connect the TV with VGA, it only lets me set one resolution and the computer has a different resolution, so if it had an HDMI connector, I wouldn't have problems that I can't set one resolution for the TV and another for the computer, anyway thanks and goodbye.
