After almost a year since the release of Mageia 2 and after numerous delays, the latest version of this distro derived from Mandriva has appeared. Its main features are these:

MediaNow the Live-CD is now only available in English while as a novelty Live-DVD has appeared in all languages. On the other hand, the "free" edition that only contained free software has also disappeared giving way to the DVD editions i586 and x86-64 that contain both free and proprietary software (mainly drivers) so that if, for example, we have an nVidia or Ati graphics card, during installation we will be asked if we want the proprietary or free driver.

· DVD i586 [3.7 Gb]: The most complete edition with KDE, Gnome, XLDE and XFCE. It has proprietary drivers.
· DVD x86-64 [3.7 Gb]: Same as the previous one compiled for 64-bit systems.
· Dual architecture CD [699 Mb]: CD with i586 and x86-64 architectures. It only contains free software and the basic software to function.
· Live-DVD i586 KDE [1.4 Gb]: Live DVD with KDE and all languages.
· Live-DVD x86-64 KDE [1.5 Gb]: Same as the previous one compiled for 64-bit systems.
· Live-DVD i586 Gnome [1.4 Gb]: Live-DVD with Gnome and all languages.
· Live-DVD x86-64 Gnome [1.4 Gb]: Same as the previous one compiled for 64-bit systems.
· Live-CD i586 KDE [694 Mb]: Live-CD with KDE only in English.
· Live-CD i586 Gnome [697 Mb]: Live-CD with Gnome only in English. -
I didn't quite get used to KDE, but every new Mageia is good news.
