Problem installing Windows 8/7
-
A while ago I started getting a message saying I needed to replace my hard drive. At the time I went into the BIOS and set it to ignore the error, until a few days ago when I decided to replace the hard drive as it could fail at any moment.
After replacing the hard drive, I tried to install W7, which didn't work as the installation froze on a screen saying "preparing the installation program" or something like that. On other occasions it said I was missing a USB DVD or hard drive driver. I tried W8 and it was the same.
The funniest thing is that my PC meets the requirements for these operating systems, in fact W7 used to run on the old drive, and I don't think it's a hardware problem either, because when I tried another OS (ubuntu) there was no problem and also the hard drive is clearly fine as it's new.
It can't be because the ISOs are burned incorrectly either, as the W7 disc has worked for me to complete the installation on other occasions.
I don't know what to do anymore, I'm not an expert, so I'm asking for your help, I hope the problem is interesting to you and you can help me. To be honest, I've been consulting forums and websites for days, and nothing has helped me. Thanks in advance. :wall: -
It seems silly, but if you connect it to the same cable, remove the other one and check if the BIOS detects it, you shouldn't have any problems. Check if it's in AHCI.
But without knowing what hardware you have and what you changed, we can't help you much. -
Passes a memtest. Looks like it's a RAM failure.
-
And for me it was caused by a graphic card with a dirty socket and poor contact. It could be a lot of things or just one. -
I have tested the RAM, it is not the problem, it works correctly.
The hardware currently installed on the pc is:
processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40GHz
hard drive: ATA TOSHIBA DT01ACA0
graphics: GT218 Ĝeforce 8400 Gs
I have two 2 gb RAM modules, as my computer works with 32 bit operating systems it only uses 3.5 gb.
I think all of this is correct. -
No matter how much I search in the BIOS, I can't find anything that says AHCI anywhere, it could be because the BIOS is an old version, I already said that I'm not an expert. XD

What program have you used to test the ram?

Since I am using the PC with Ubuntu, I searched the internet and with a few commands I solved the problem. Anyway, I don't think it's the RAM because I changed it a few months ago.
