      Hello, good evening to all.

I have a problem with my NVIDIA for a couple of years now and I would like to solve it once and for all, if possible.

I am sure that this problem has been commented on more than once... But I still don't understand the solution.

I have a Dell XPS laptop with integrated graphics and a separate NVIDIA GT 420 M.
When I bought the laptop, I think I remember that everything worked well but now this is what happens:

When the screen connected to the laptop is the one working, the PC does NOT activate the NVIDIA. It does detect it, because in "Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager", it says that I have both the integrated and NVIDIA installed. But if I right-click in the middle of the desktop, I don't see the NVIDIA configuration option, and if I open the configuration program from its folder, it won't let me select NVIDIA to accelerate the laptop screen.

However, if I connect the PC via HDMI to my TV, the integrated graphics turn off and the NVIDIA is used. But I still can't select NVIDIA to accelerate the laptop screen.

How can I make it detect the NVIDIA?

      Notes on possible solutions:
-If I select "Run with high-performance NVIDIA graphics" from the laptop screen, it does not run the program/game with the NVIDIA but with the integrated one.
-If I disable the integrated graphics from "Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager", the laptop screen goes black and nothing is visible.
-I can't restore the factory settings, nor do I have CDs of the drivers that came by default.
-There is no option in the BIOS menu that refers to the use of the integrated or NVIDIA graphics.
-The NVIDIA has the latest official drivers installed.
      -I use Windows 7 64x.

Thank you very much to all...

Try installing the latest drivers for your card, and keep in mind that many games and programs do not support the possibility of multiple graphics, always using the primary one.

I agree with Fassou, try installing the latest drivers for your motherboard BIOS.

I had the same problem but with a neovo. I solved it by uninstalling both drivers, installing the updated chipset drivers first and then the ones for its graphics. Restarting and installing the nvidia ones. I put this in the nvidia control panel and it lets me select the graphics I want to use for games and the one I don't.
