Intel delays Broadwell
-
The new microarchitecture, successor to Haswell, was scheduled to be released early next year, but due to problems in the manufacturing process, its release will likely be delayed by a year.
The improvements of Broadwell over Haswell are:
· 14nm manufacturing process instead of Haswell's 22nm
· ADOX/ADCX/MULX instructions that improve the performance of arbitrary precision integer (bignum) operations.
· RDSEED instruction for generating 16, 32, and 64-bit random numbers compliant with NIST SP 800-90B and 800-90C
· PREFETCHW instruction. -
I don't think they are in a hurry, Intel should now focus more on atom and quark than on high-end, they will sell them anyway because there is no real competition.
