AMD announces 12Gb graphics…

…for computing.
As we see in this press release, AMD is planning to market the FirePro S10000, a graphics card with an obscene amount of memory that will be focused for use in supercomputing centers.
Basically it seems to be this graphics card with double the memory.
It has all the OpenGL capabilities and is likely to be a monster in rendering previews and in rendering itself in programs that allow GPU usage.
It will be released next spring and nothing is known about its price. Its smaller sister of 6 Gb costs just over $3000.

Alright, so… will GTA V run well on me? Will my mobo support it? Will it fit in my case? :troll: :troll: :troll: :troll:
Regards and thanks for the input

A few hours later, nVidia has announced its 12 Gb graphics card, the Tesla K40 also aimed at supercomputing.I did not know that there was a fierce struggle between the two rivals in this field.

It was coming... So, which one is expected to be cheaper? AMD has always been the cheaper option lately, but if the 6Gb one is around 3000, and the Titan 6Gb is around 1000... Partial victory for nVidia? Or do the AMD 6Gb and the Titan with the same memory not belong to the same range?Best regards

I suppose it depends on the application. A few months ago I read some documentation on Bitcoin mining and for that specific task, ATI wins hands down against nVidia. But elsewhere I read that a test version of VRay (rendering engine) was getting very good results with nVidia graphics thanks to CUDA cores.
