Hello:
I have a friend who has left me an external 2.5 inch hard drive that he can't access. I opened it and the problem is that the connection is Micro USB and I have the cable but I connect it via USB and the computer doesn't even notice it. The hard drive light turns on but I don't see it spinning, I don't know if it's because the cable I bought doesn't provide enough electricity or because the drive is dead :ugly: and only the light has been saved
On other occasions with other drives, I used to connect them to the motherboard with a SATA cable, and it usually recognized it and then with some small program I would repair sectors or extract the data, but of course, with this connection that is not like the 3.5 inch hard drives, I can't connect it to the motherboard. :llorar:
Next to this Micro USB connection there is another one with 12 pins in a row of 2. Maybe there is a SATA cable with this output and I just don't know about it.
Is there a cable to connect it to a SATA connection that is, to the motherboard? Maybe there is a Micro USB to SATA converter to then connect it to the motherboard?
Because I have been looking for a while and I can't find anything.
Any help will be appreciated as my friend has data that he wants to recover.
Best regards.

Strange thing… Throw some pics at the little one to see what we're up against, and then we'll see what we can do.

The cable you need and your friend should have provided you with, has a double male connector (use both connectors at the same time).
Salu2!

I already have that cable. The problem is that when I connect that cable to the computer's USB port, it doesn't recognize it. That's why I'm looking for a Micro USB cable like the one I have, but with a SATA output instead of USB, so I can plug it into the motherboard.
I don't know if what I'm asking for even exists, to be honest.
