Help! High CPU temperature (thermal paste change)
-
Hello everyone! Well, I have the following problem: today I changed the thermal paste on the processor (i5 2500) and when I turned on the PC, I had temperatures of 70 degrees just by opening the browser and Skype -.-'' and I don't know what to do...
Does anyone know why this could be happening?? -
Because you have assembled it incorrectly or have not managed the amount of paste correctly, either in excess or in default.
-
Hello again, a while ago I opened it again, removed some paste and spread it evenly with a card, then I put the heatsink back (correctly I must say, it doesn't move a millimeter) and now the temperature with several pages open and talking on skype is 52-56.
I don't know if the paste is taking a while to react or what but is the temperature still a bit high?? -
Some of the situations that produce high temperatures are:
- Excess thermal paste or poorly applied
- Heatsink poorly placed, insufficient or clogged with dust
- Poorly ventilated case
- High ambient temperature
Keep checking, and let us know.
Salu2!

well the truth is that I don't know very well but I have put a very thin layer of thermal paste on it and spread it with a card and I have just cleaned the heatsink… and I have not changed the heatsink we always went well etc playing bf4 and that.
right now I think the heatsink is correctly installed because nothing moves.
right now I am playing LOL at a temperature in the main core of 67º
Before I tried the rift and it had a temp of 70 and some and the cpu fan was at full blast -
Now it is more normal, you can leave it like this and wait a couple of days to see if it improves something.
-
do you think it's normal to be 67º while playing lol?? I think it's too excessive... and in the rift the cpu fan is scary xDD besides the case is cool it's a xpredator x1
-
Sorry I misread. That temperature is not normal.
-
hahaha okok I just opened it again, I cleaned it and put a drop like a grain of rice in the middle and put the heatsink on top without anything else. right now talking on skype and here in the forum I'm at 45-50 minimum. a few minutes ago just turning on the pc it was at 39 - 40 I'm going to try a while playing lol and now I'll comment
-
ok I already have data, playing lol maxes of 64 and a half of 58 or something like that
-
now that is normal
-
And you haven't touched the VCore in the BIOS, right? Salu2! -
I haven't touched anything in the bios xD in fact I put it back to default just in case jaja
so it's normal now?? or is it still a bit high?
Thanks! ^^ -
Even so, it's a bit hot, I would have to check the heatsink mounts, because my 2500K without OC with the stock one is at 33º browsing and editing images right now...

a question, is the heatsink standard? if so, those temperatures are normal
regards
-
yes yes, it is without oc and with the heatsink that comes standard.
Right now it's at 41º-43 without doing anything, just browsing -

Another important aspect is the thermal paste you have used. Some, like Artic Sylver, need a few days of curing to start giving good temperatures. They can improve between 2 and 8° in a week. Another issue is whether you have activated in the bios the option for the motherboard to manage the fan speed. If not, it is possibly fixed at a certain number of revolutions and does not increase if the temperature rises. Which does not surprise me because the stock ones are quite bad.

Good morning! Regarding the case, it has the source at the bottom, fan at the front and another at the back, and it makes a good breeze all around xDD.
What is that the case has some holes to put the cables, which I didn't do hehe so I guess they will bother a little, but not much because they are mostly on the front.
Anyway, I just turned on the PC and it has a minimum of 26º maximum of 34º and it's around 29-30
So I think this is normal.
Thank you all for responding so quickly!
PD: Do you advise me to buy some heatsink-fan? Already looking at this PC and future? -
It depends. If you are going to make extensive use of the computer and play demanding games for quite a while, then yes. Mostly because every minute of excessive heat for the processor is a minute less of life. The cooler it is, the better.
But if you are going to play sporadically, little demanding games and the processor spends most of the time scratching its belly, then you can almost save it because those temperatures are already good. Anyway, winter is not a good time to look at temperatures. It is best to do it in summer when computers really suffer. If you contain them in summer, the rest is a piece of cake.Tapatalk for ZX Spectrum
