My PC resets itself sporadically
-
It turns out that for about three weeks now, the PC has been shutting down and restarting, it doesn't happen often: more than once while Windows is starting up, once when I put a YouTube video in full screen, when I run Internet Explorer and with three movies when I run them in full screen, that is, it doesn't happen with all of them, just some.
Specifically, yesterday it worked fine, it didn't restart once; except at night when I was watching a movie and after about 25 minutes it happened again, then I tried again with the same movie and it happened again; so what I did was watch it just by extending the windows, not in full screen and it didn't happen again. The day before there was no problem.
There is no blue screen, no error, I also have automatic restart disabled. No virus was found (SUPERAntiSpyware Professional, Panda Online Spybot, HijackThis) and when I analyzed the hard drive it also found no problems.
What I do have wrong is the Windows 7 that once got damaged when I messed with the security permissions, after that it came up that my copy is not original, also Windows Update doesn't work and I can't install java among other problems. But the thing is that I had been using it in those conditions for over a year and it never reset, the problem is no more than three weeks old. For example: all of 2013 it didn't happen and Windows seems to be in the same conditions. And I didn't reinstall it out of laziness.
If it were the system: why now?
It also happened before this, that one day it didn't show video, when I turned it on it seemed like everything was fine, except for the fact that it didn't make any beeps and didn't show video, so I opened the case, cleaned – took out all the dust I could -, took out the RAM and put it back in and it started up without problems, I have already tested the memory in both slots and the same thing happens.
Could it be a memory problem? -
Hello,
It could be a memory problem, one of the slots might be damaged (note that this is a fairly common problem in most motherboards over time, I don't know if it's due to dust, handling, or positioning...)
The truth is that it sounds more like a graphics problem to me, like drivers, overheating...
I would start by updating the drivers, if that doesn't solve anything, I would check that the graphics card is fine in every way, physically and virtually (through stress tests and similar), and if that doesn't work either, I would try formatting the system, to clean it completely and start over with updated drivers and everything else.
Best regards
