Microsoft Windows 10
-
Is it supposed to update itself or do I have to install it? I'm going to start it up to see... PD. Is it just me or does Windows seem more and more troglodyte-like, or does it change a lot or I fear that 10 is not going to be a great Windows, I don't understand where they put so many millions because in R&D... Maybe they all go to the development of patches for IE. -
Minimalism misunderstood. I must be getting old because between Unity, Metro and company they are already getting on my nerves, that and having to use accounts from each company for every little thing you do (Microsoft, Apple, Google…). Those are the two things I like least about current systems and why I feel so comfortable with Mint and Windows 7. But well, I also live off this and I will have to catch up, so let's see if this time I download the Technical Preview and get the hang of it.
At least the next Office will have the possibility to choose several interface colors, because 2013 damages the eyes, it is inconsistent to have 1080p to use two colors and almost confuse the background of the sheet with that of the buttons.

Well, I like the latest update a lot more, let's see if they can migrate all the junk from the old Windows to Metro once and for all for the gold... It should also be said that incorporating Cortana is something logical and intelligent, if they continue down this path, they are only missing the apps that, although I don't understand why, are still very scarce in Metro.Sent from my iPad with Tapatalk

El 29 de Julio finally comes out, to see how it turns out it looks good.
-
Today I received a message from Windows in which, by entering my email, it reserved the free upgrade to Windows 10 for when it becomes available.
-
It just came out for me too, so I'll wait.
-
I will update the laptop to see how it goes, so I can catch up a bit.
-
I see you are very excited, I also received the message, and to be honest, I am hesitating. I am very comfortable with Windows 7.
-
I got the message... but I'm still using Windows 7, I don't see myself making the jump. If I used Windows 8 the change wouldn't be so radical but I usually don't install software that's just come out. So I'll wait for someone to install it first ;D and then tell me about their experience. :wall: -
What I still don't have clear is the app store and the level of dependency you will have when installing things.

What I still don't understand is the app store thing and the level of dependency you'll have when installing things.
The fact that Microsoft has suddenly decided that the monetary cost of its operating system is 0 doesn't mean it's going to be free. We'll have to see how the user is going to pay for it and I think things are heading in the direction of Android, where the vast majority of software you install is controlled by Google.
In a few months we'll know how well the model Microsoft has adopted is working, whatever it may be.
-
If I'm not mistaken, they were talking about it being free for the first year, but I just read it quickly.

As far as I know, it will only be free for the first year for updates. But from my point of view, the only thing they want is to skim off the market and the fact that it will be the last Windows (from now on only updates will appear) makes me think that sooner or later it will be completely free for everyone.
The business today is in the service, not in the product. MS benefits from having its operating system on the largest number of people, since the users, by the fact of using it, are the ones who generate profits.
-
I agree with you wholeheartedly.
In fact, I have always suspected that they did not bother much about the fact that many users used a "free" Windows.
That being said, I do not know to what extent they can live off licenses and "royalties" although, if what they want is to unseat Android from its quasi-hegemony in the portable field, they have no other choice.
I am still very happy with my W7, but I will not turn down a W10 if they give it to me.:ugly: -
Reading next to the asterisk says that it is not a trial version, meaning it is free forever, but you will definitely get stuck somewhere
-
I fully agree with Cobito.
I think what Microsoft aims to do is to gain the largest number of users (more if possible) to base its business model on services, not on the sale of the operating system itself.
This theory is reinforced by the good work they are doing with Office for mobile platforms and the increase in quality apps they have been launching lately.
There is a saying in marketing that says: "If they are not trying to sell you any product, it is you who are the product." -
As you rightly say, Microsoft makes money by selling software, especially to companies.
If normal users use their systems for free at home, companies will choose them for their businesses, because they save on training. -
There is always a business behind it, I imagine where it is heading, it would be logical to think now that they have an app store and seeing that they can not stop the piracy of their OS, that the worm is Windows and the hook is the appstore. Apple is doing very well like this and making money selling other people's software on their OS does not seem like a bad idea.

I think exactly the same, and the truth is that I think it's something very good, if in a while it is proven that it is an operating system in good condition I will probably install it. I don't like to have anything pirated, I even bought Windows 7 professional, but the third time I installed it it stopped being original, and that doesn't seem fair to me either after paying 200/300€
