SSD recommendation for laptop

Hello fellow users,

I have a Sony Vaio SVE1511V1E and I've been considering the possibility of adding an SSD to it, but when I started researching I couldn't find the complete specifications of the computer.

There are several pages, especially those talking about Crucial SSDs, that discuss compatibility, but I'm not sure what SATA channels the computer comes with in order to take full advantage of it:

In any case, which option would you recommend? Can I directly replace the hard drive that comes with the computer (750GB at 5400rpm) with a 500GB SSD, or have I seen the possibility of replacing the CD reader (which is something I hardly use) with an adapter to add a second SSD (in this case, 128GB or 256GB would be enough for me):

I wouldn't throw a single euro at a Vaio.
They are very good machines, those who buy them can work with them without surprises and they do what they do well.
But, now comes the "but", they are "closed" devices and I'm not saying they can't be expanded, but they allow for few (very few) modifications.

In the case of the hard drive, it doesn't support SATA3 from the start, so we would have an SSD working below its optimal performance. When they say "it's compatible" they're not lying, just whatever you put on it will work as SATA2.
However, the computer would go as fast as it can never go.

The issue of removing the writer, well, being able to connect a 2.5 hard drive via USB, I think it's a bit drastic. It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

I would leave it as it is, and if by obligation I had to improve the hard drive, I've seen a brand new SanDisk of 128 GB for less than 60 €, and I would put the mechanical one that came with it as an external connected to the USB 3.0 for storage.

Yes, that's what I imagined, that it would be SATA2, but I haven't been able to find the specifications anywhere. Well, yes, then the best option in any case would be to change the disk and buy an external casing to connect the original via USB.

I've seen the SanDisk SSD that you mention, I've even seen this Kingston SSDNow of 120GB for €49.95
