SEO: images on my server or on an external service?
-
I have a blog with a couple of posts that have a large number of images. The problem is that these posts are the ones that attract most of the visits and my transfer rate is quite limited.
I have thought about hosting some images on an external server to take the load off my server, but I don't know if this would negatively affect search engine positioning. For now, I know that the server overload is affecting and penalizing the site's position in the results.
Do search engines take into account where the images are stored? Would it be counterproductive to have images hosted on a different domain than the page where they are displayed?
Thank you.

Anticipating that (not to vary), I have no idea about the topic, it's better to try doing it with one entry and, depending on the result, continue moving the rest.
PD: The thing about the search engine reference, trying it with an image linked in a thread of this forum and doing a reverse search with Tineye and Google images, depends on the site where they are stored and the profile (public or private) of the same. Normally, they return as a result the site of the link, not of the storage.
Edit: This would affect a search by images, not a normal search by content. It would be counterproductive insofar as it is one of those sites that change the use policies when they feel like it (imageshackahem). :troll:

What the theory recommends is to divide the contents into subdomains like img1.nombredelaweb img2.nombredelaweb… hosted on the same ip or preferably on different ips. The thing is that if you are limited by the capacity of your machine, you should look into that option. Relying on services like imageshack is not recommended, I would rather hotlink images hosted on facebook.

Thanks for the information. I've been looking at free image hosting and the one that convinced me the most was imgur but I found out that it's common for images to be deleted without any reason,
Finally I've hired a hosting with unlimited traffic and a.com domain. The original domain is.net and the name is the same. In the.com I will upload the heavy stuff and in the.net I will leave everything light.
The logical thing would have been to transfer the.net domain to the hosting hired but I need to run some scripts periodically and for that I would have to hire something too expensive that is not worth it. Besides, I renewed the domain recently and the truth is that the.com + hosting has come out quite cheap.
This is only a temporary solution for a few months.
I will inform you if this move means a change or not in the positioning. For now, it will surely relieve the first server a lot.

Because I'm trying to help you, I'll tell you that if you put the images on another server and then upload them to the blog server, they will take just as long to load. But instead of doing it on one server, you would have to do it on two. What you should do is resize the image so that its size is minimal. And if for some reason you wanted to make the image available to your readers in higher quality, you would put a link to where you have it hosted in that status.
If you're worried about SEO, hehe everyone worries about that, I must tell you that the best way to SEO is through social networks. And of course the quality of your blog. I would focus on that more than anything else. In any case, if you have another server with the photos, don't forget to put references to your blog, even if it's in code.good luck….
