OC i5 2500k + SLI 970 asus STRIX
-
Good afternoon everyone, first of all I introduce myself as I am new around here, my name is Alberto and I am from Alicante.
Well my question is as follows, I have an i5 2500k and an Asus Strix GTX 970, my "doubt" is.... that a colleague of mine at work (because he has extra money and stuff like that), has bought an 1080 and he had the same graphics card as mine... and he told me to sell it to me (at a very high price..) to make an SLI, I wanted to know if it would work correctly, if I would have problems because of the processor etc...
I must say that I have NEVER done OC on my i5 and that my motherboard is an Asus PH867
Thank you very much, I hope for responses!
PD: I have VERY BASIC computer knowledge...

First of all Welcome to the forum.
To the point. If the motherboard is a P8H67 (check what you wrote), then it does not support SLI (nVIDIA), only Crossfire (AMD).
Salu2!

At a good price I would go for it with a Z chipset to give it some power and a second PCIe x8. Since that's not your case (our colleague has already told us that it's not even compatible), you can still plug another GPU into that micro, but I would wait for a mid-range next-gen. For now, 8GB of RAM will do. It has gone up, it will come down, with 16GB of RAM that platform will last you. You can't OC the micro but you can the GPU, you'll have to lower some settings with last-gen games that don't have too much power or VRAM. At least it lets you run them decently. -
This is my motherboard: https://www.pccomponentes.com/asus-p8h67
So, I couldn't do SLI??
On the other hand, I have 8Gb of RAM from this: https://www.pccomponentes.com/kingston-hyperx-blu-ddr3-1600-pc3-12800-8gb-2x4gb-cl9
do you recommend me to put 16gb more of the same model (in case that I can finally do SLI...)
Thanks for the answers!!!!

It's better to put 2x8GB, than to buy another two of 4GB to have 4x4GB because it usually gives problems.
See you!
