Well, I had to assemble 2 machines this weekend for a client.
They were the same. CPU i7 8700, 16Gb DDR Cl17 (agghhh), MSI 370 gaming plus motherboard, Samsung 860 evo m2 SSD and 800W power supply

To be honest, I was eager to test the new Intel CPU, I wanted to know if it would be close to the Ryzen 1700x that I built a few months ago.

The test suite, the one I always use. Premiere, Media encoder, Cinebench and El Super PI. Apart from HL bench ?

In video encoding, the first problems are already showing up: The heat.
It is UNACCEPTABLE and UNUNDERSTANDABLE that Intel puts a PIECE OF TRASH like this for a heatsink. If anyone buys it, they should invest in a good heatsink.

After 5 minutes of video transcoding, it was already at 99 degrees ?

So, if I didn't want to kill the beast, I was forced to blow air into the case, because I didn't have any other heatsink at hand.
With 2 12cm fans at full speed, I managed to lower it by 10 degrees... staying at 90... approx, at full speed... Really annoying.

      Well... The data: ?

As you can see, the first tests are quite good, on par with the Ryzen 1700x. I'm surprised that the acceleration by OpenCL is faster than the CPU itself. It's noticeable that the Intel 620 is not bad at all ?

In the heavy tests, I can assure you that Throttling has played a very bad trick on it, but that's what the stock heatsink does... that means it doesn't go up as well as it should, and its results are not as good...

      Now, with another test, Cinebench:
      0_1521061454216_cinebench cpu.jpg

1421, not bad.... A 7700k is below 1000 and the Ryzen around 1500... but with 6 more cores ?

      Let's go with SuperPI:

The one with 32Mb... 8:10 minutes.... the one with 16Mb, 3:44 seconds

Here I see strange things, because my 4790K at 4,2Ghz does 7:57 in the 32 and 3:42 in the 16Mb... it doesn't perform as well as I expected. Probably the heat again...

      Anyway...
This is what I can comment on for now. Maybe I'll come across this beast again in the future and I'll try to have a competent heatsink ?

      Greetings to all

They are probably also adjusting things in the upcoming bios, also the problem with the stock cooler... I'm about to make the jump to the K and I'll tell you all about it soon, for now I'll keep using my old GTX560TI, but I hope to finally upgrade to the GTX 2000 series, even if it's the 2060, because I'm not paying the extra price they're asking now.

        Great data crack!

A great analysis, thanks for your time.
The heatsink thing, well, it's peccata minuta compared to an unsoldered IHS; I've always been of the opinion that, for that, it's better to sell it without it like the old K7s: you put a spacer on it and that's it.
          But while Intel is Intel...

Apart from that, a fucking great beast, yes sir.

          ...me lo dicen las voces...

Buen pepino has montado, gracias por el análisis. Lo de la temperatura una constante en los Intel. Una pena.

The truth... is that I don't understand why they make such an idiot ?
My 4790K, after Delid, went down 10 degrees...

Why does a factory insist that its products do not work as well as possible?

              It almost seems like a self-boicott ?

              They will know
