In this post, the Dropbox team has announced that the Linux client will stop supporting "unpopular" file systems. That excludes support for EXT4 encrypted drives as well. The official reason is that other formats do not have support for extended attributes (X-attrs), which are necessary to keep files in sync with copies on their servers. The reality is that this is false because most formats for Linux have support for X-attrs.
