GPU Modding WaterCooling Do V-Ram need Dissipation?
-
Well, I have my doubts about the VRAM of the GPU, we know that they get hot but not to the point of melting/burning from my point of view... Well, I started to doubt it because I have a GTX 970 and I want to do some modding to put a water block on the graphics processor but the point is that the stock heatsink covers the VRAMs of the card in their entirety, so I've heard that this is simply because of the heat generated by the GPU since they are close and don't have much room to breathe.
Now my doubt is... if I only leave the block on the GPU without putting anything on the VRAMs will they burn out? Will the frequencies drop? Or will they continue to be normal? I mean the ones in the back of the card don't have any dissipation but well, there's my doubt about leaving them alone in the open air and only covering the GPU or putting heatsinks on them.

@ravegaming In my humble opinion, you put some small heatsinks of those that they sell to stick and you have extra, although if you want to overdimension it because it's an OC version or you touched voltages, put some that cover several of them, so that you increase the dissipation surface, and if you strain your brain too much, leave a fan moving the air in the area inside the case at very low RPM.
Salu2!

I revived the thread because I didn't want to start a new one.
First, the equipment:
AMD 8350 and GPU Rx 580.
I upgraded the RAM and installed Patriot Viper 1866 16 gs, the first one on the front, they are high profile and my tuned triton 88 can't fit with three fans...
Hot as hell
I threw away my tuned tower and bought a corsair 500 i
And a RL corsair 360 i
The processor at 60% doesn't go over 30 degrees.
But the gpu gets to 100% at 70 degrees and I've done underworkinn and at 100% it stays at 55/60 degrees and now we're at its nos 17 degrees in summer... A real pain.
I'm considering installing a CPU RL on the gpu.
I've seen the ncxt kraken kit for 30€ plus the RL.
Paying 30€ for a piece of folded aluminum and a fan (considering that they say you need an adapter for the molex, I'm not too sure).
My doubts, if I install a CPU RL on the gpu (probably corsair) how will the system recognize it? Does it work in icue? If I have to install fans for the VRAM how do I manage them?
And finally, for an RX580 of 8 gs, what radiator? 120/240/360?
Regards, regards
