In recent times, several security issues have emerged in x86 processors, mainly from Intel, which have been resolved at the cost of penalizing performance. The solution that the developer and processor manufacturer now proposes for the security flaws in speculative execution is to use a new type of RAM divided into a normal region and another secure but slow one.

How cheeky, that others correct their design flaws. They don't want it to be noticed that by correcting the vulnerabilities, the performance drops a lot in programs that use a lot of memory and disk access, so they want to penalize AMD as well through a universal solution.

Hey, but if it works, that's one thing they save. I don't think AMD will position itself there. What I think is that maybe it's too early to have found a problem in the AMDs, but Intel is taking the cake. Now it seems that they also have problems with the gemini lake and the chrome or firefox 64bits, which gives an error in an operation and doesn't work. They recommend switching to 32 bits until they patch the microcode again. And on top of that, Intel tries to laugh at AMD for the speed of the Boost.

But will this memory be a new type different from DDR DIMMs or will it be backward compatible? I think it's a very shoddy patch either way

I think what they want to do is reserve a part of the ram to store some data related to private keys, a virtual ram. But I don't know if that will solve the problem. It would be too much if it were another ram socket to put on the boards
