Gigabyte introduces a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 card
-
Beyond the product itself (a card with USB ports), it is quite curious to see how the consortium that develops the communication bus has lost its bearings with the nomenclature.

Since USB 3, these people have lost their grip:
· USB 1.0 (Low speed) [1996]: 1.5 Mbits/s
· USB 1.1 (Full speed) [1998]: 12 Mbits/s
· USB 2.0 (High speed) [2000]: 480 Mbits/s
· USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed) [2008]: 5Gbits/s. This one ended up being called USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.2 Gen 1x1.
· USB 3.1 Gen 1 (SuperSpeed) [2013]: 5Gbits/s. It is USB 3.0
· USB 3.1 Gen 2 (SuperSpeed+) [2013]: 10Gbits/s
· USB 3.2 Gen 1 (SuperSpeed) [2017]: 5Gbits/s. It is also USB 3.0
· USB 3.2 Gen 2 (SuperSpeed+) [2017]: 10Gbits/s. Is it the same as USB 3.1 Gen 2?
· USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (2xSuperSpeed+) [2017]: 20Gbits/s
· USB 4 (Thunderbolt 3) [2019]: 40Gbits/s -
These are the things that happen when one of the leaders of a standard, insists on ruining it to favor their new standard, but is exposed and ends up implementing their protocol in the new developments of the "old".
