New computer, can it be overclocked?
-
Hello! I just built a computer from parts with a Ryzen 5 2600 and I was thinking of overclocking it, but I can't afford liquid cooling and I have doubts... any recommendations?
Motherboard: MSI b450M PRO MAX
Graphics card: AMD RADEON 590
Processor: Ryzen 5 2600
Hard drives: 280 GB SSD and 1Tb Sata 3 -
Greetings.
It would be good to know which source you have, after all it is the one that will have to give the blister, and the box, cabinet, tower, chassis (as you call it) is also good to know.
In principle, everything is a matter of controlling the temperature; obviously a better heatsink (not necessarily an AIO, which in any case should not be less than 240 mm) will increase the possibility of scratching more megahertz.

Exactly! You should always be guided above all by the hardware you have and above all know if it interests you.

@yerayedy If you search carefully on Youtube you will see that there are quite a few tutorials for “tuning” the Ryzen. And by tuning I mean that you can lower the CPU voltages so that it heats up less and you can have a bit more margin to do OC. It's curious but you can improve the performance and consumption of the 2600

What you have to keep in mind is that you need a decent source and the stock cooling is pretty fair. You can find some decent air cooling that doesn't go up much in price. On the other hand, if you're going to put a liquid one, as they already tell you, better that it's 240 because the 120 will practically have the same performance as an air one.
