Summary of the last half of August 2020

IBM presents its new Power10
They will be given with 16 cores SMT8 with 2MB of L2 cache per core and 128MB of L3. There will be topologies with up to two dice per socket. In case of choosing a single integrated, configurations of 16 sockets per processor can be had and in case of choosing the dual chip option, up to 4 will be had. In summary, they will be CPUs with up to 128 cores and 1GB of L3 cache.
Oculus glasses will need a Facebook account
Although the creator of the Oculus Rift assured that this would never happen when he sold the company to the social network, it seems that Facebook has decided to do what many suspected would happen. From now on, any new model will need an FB account to work and from 2023, all glasses will stop working if they don't do so with a Facebook account.
Intel releases drivers for old iGPUs
Specifically, new drivers have appeared for Core processors from the third generation for both Windows 10 and 7. It seems that there was a security flaw although it has not been specified.
New power connector for GPUs
Photos of a new power connector for graphics cards developed by Nvidia have appeared. It is called Molex Micro-Fit 3.0, it can move 600W and will replace the classic 8-pin connectors.
Ryzen 5 3550H
A couple of days ago, someone brought us this Zen+ with 4 cores and SMT. With 3.7GHz and 35W TDP, it stays in the sixth position of the 8 Zen+ we have. In the general ranking it stays in position 53.
Firefox 80 comes with VA-API acceleration
The eightieth version of the browser comes with hardware video acceleration both in X.org and Wayland, although it is not activated by default. In addition, it is now possible to use it as a default PDF viewer.
TSMC is planning the 2nm
The semiconductor manufacturer plans to release the 3nm by the end of 2022. About their 2nm, for now the news is that the company has bought some land to set up the research center, so it will take a few years to arrive.
