Summary of the week of May 17, 2021
-
I don't know if I've been too strict with the filters or if this week has been a bit weak in terms of news. The list is a bit short:
Intel wants to extend the use of ATX12VO
The new power standard isn't catching on and to give it a boost, Intel wants to release Alder Lake-S motherboards with ATX12VO.
New security issues in AMD CPUs
The security flaw is related to SEV (Secure Encrypted Virtualization) and affects Epyc.
Wifi coverage map
With this tool it's possible to draw a floor plan with the location of access points and make a heat map of Wifi coverage.
Isolation of sites in Firefox
The new version of Firefox that will arrive next month will isolate the execution of each website we visit in a different thread to prevent malicious sites from accessing personal data.
Recorded work time
With this tool it's possible to keep track of the tasks we're doing.
Bloatware consumes 30% of CPU on DELL PCs
More specifically, the G5 5000 has been analyzed where junk software accounts for a third of the graphics processor.
Celeron J1900
Someone has brought us this Silvermont with 4 fairly small cores. With a TDP of 10W, it has a performance similar to the N3150 two years younger and with 40% less TDP. It's far from entering the top 100 and stays in third position of the four Silvermonts we have.

It's great as always @cobito. Thanks for these regular updates. If it weren't for you, many of us would be living in a fantasy world...Best regards!
