Western Digital removed a portion of code that could have prevented the deletion. Moreover, it seems that it was the work of two hackers, a first one who set up a botnet and a second one who, out of spite, wanted to sabotage it by deleting all the drives.

He sells a gadget to keep data safe and a couple of wankers with self-esteem issues go about doing irreparable damage to who knows how many bastards. If the news is true, the first hacker might get away with it but the second one is a textbook psychopath.
