Micro temperature
-
Good evening, I have a Lenovo T410 ntel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU (Arrandale) M 520 2.40 GHz laptop, the temperature at idle is always around 50ºC and when it does intensive work, for example, changing the format of a video file, it goes to almost 100 degrees, it seems excessive to me but I don't know if it's normal for it to be like this, because it hasn't caused me any problems, not of pc blocking nor of failures.
You will tell me what you think, thanks and good summer to all -
@agarciarroyo that temperature is excessive, at rest it is also elevated but it is not problematic. With the arrival of summer heat, the lack of maintenance in laptops and PCs is more noticeable. I recommend that you thoroughly clean the heatsink of dust and dirt, and it would not hurt to change the thermal paste of the CPU.
Regards!P.D: Another option is to buy a cooling pad, although you should still do the maintenance yourself.

If you look at the PC specifications, you'll see the micro it has, put it in the search engine and it will show you the maximum temperature (which I think you're exceeding).
As they have told you, clean the heatsink and fans and, while you're at it, change the thermal paste on the heatsink.
If you've never done it before, watch a couple of videos first.
And make sure you have the necessary screwdrivers.
Sometimes a Phillips screwdriver will do, other times you need a finer one or even a Torx one.
It's not very complicated, but be careful with the screws (some are tiny), find a small box or something to keep them in.

Hello, thank you for your responses. According to what I have looked up, the maximum temperature of this micro is 105ºC. I am also not sure if the measurement programs are very accurate. I bought a cooling base but when it is at full it serves little to nothing, to say nothing of anything. At rest it does lower the temperature by about 10º. You are right, I should change the paste of the micro, the problem is that I do not dare, I am a bit clumsy.
Regards -
@agarciarroyo nobody is born knowing it all.
It's not difficult, it's just fun...
You watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube and you're good to go.
Like I said, the most important thing is to have the right tools, and you'll see that in the videos.
The worst thing when you're new is to dive in and find out you're missing a torx bit (just to give you an example)
And having to leave it half done to go buy one...
After all, your job is "easy" to remove a cover, disassemble the heatsink and change the paste... I had to do it as a favor, disassemble it completely and put the M.B in the oven to resolder the GPU pins, that's a real mess.
Best regards -

Best regardsIf it intimidates you a lot, start only with the cleaning, which will probably be most of the problem, and this way you start with smaller challenges, and opening the laptop twice or three times is not a problem.
Take it easy, with the time it takes, inform yourself well and without pressuring yourself, you don't need to be a serious artist, just be careful and patient.
