RISC-V has a long way to go
The open ISA RISC-V is positioning itself as an alternative to ARM and even x86. But there is still a long way to go. Among the few companies with potential is SiPearl, which is funded by the EU to reduce dependence on proprietary architectures.
Intel enables XeSS in Unreal Engine
Intel has released a plug-in that allows its XeSS scaling technology to be used on its Arc GPUs as well as on AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. The scaling works in UE4 and 5.
Bluetooth Low Energy moves to 6GHz
SIG has announced that Bluetooth Low Energy will start using bands in the 6GHz range. The goal is to increase transfer rates. As a trade-off, the signal will have less range.
Plasma 6 for the summer
The people at KDE have said that they will have the sixth version of Plasma ready for the summer. Plasma 5 has been in production for 8 years and version 5.27, which will be released in February, will be the last to receive new features.
GPU market at a low
Bad news continues to arrive for GPU manufacturers (and good news for the rest of the world). The sale of both discrete and integrated graphics cards has reached lows of the last decade. For its part, Intel is starting to gain ground in the sector.
