New long-range Wifi
WiLo is a combination of WiFi with LORA (long-range network protocol). It is a new standard for long-distance networks that can be used with unmodified WiFi devices. WiLo achieves outdoor distances of about 500 meters.
Intel says it already has a solution for its CPUs
Intel claims to have definitively solved the stability problems in its 13th and 14th generation Raptor Lake CPUs. The problem is that one of the parts of the processor is especially sensitive to high voltages and temperatures. The solution is applied with a BIOS update.
Financial difficulties at Gnome
The Gnome Foundation is going through economic difficulties that have forced it to reduce staff, travel, and marketing expenses. Development will not be affected by these cuts.
KDE 6.2 available
The second version of KDE 6 comes with improvements focused on its use on tablets and improvements in color and brightness management in HDR and ICC profiles. KDE 6.2 also brings a new feature in its power manager that allows it to detect programs that are not running correctly and prevent the system from entering sleep mode.
Open TV is now stable
After several months of development to rewrite the program in Rust, Open TV has reached version 1.0. It is an open tool that uses mpv to watch IP television.
GDDR6 memory down 33%
Someone has done a little research to understand the price trend of graphics memory. They have seen that GDDR6 memory has dropped by 33% since June 2023.
Firefox security update
Mozilla has released an emergency update for Firefox that fixes a security flaw that is already being exploited. The flaw allows code to be executed in a content process. The updated versions are 131.0.2, ESR 128.3.1, and ESR 115.16.1.
