Doom in a PDF
Doom is still running in unexpected places. This time they have managed to make the game run inside a PDF document. The file takes up 6.2 Mb although unfortunately, it only works from Chrome/Chromium.
New frequency record
Someone has managed to put a Core i9-14900KF at 9.12GHz, setting a new frequency record surpassing the previous record by almost 4Mhz. The processor was cooled with liquid nitrogen and its voltage was 1.387V.
VLC will offer real-time subtitles
The VLC media player is going to offer video subtitling through AI. The process will be carried out locally and the plan is for it to work with 100 languages. In March 2024 it was announced that VLC 4.0 was in development, a version whose core was being completely rewritten. Still, it has not been clarified when the new feature will come out.
Half-Life 2 with RTX
Half-Life 2 RTX Remix is serving to experience the new techniques that AI offers in graphics. This version of the game comes with RTX Skin and Neural Radiance Cache. The first is a neural model intended for skin rendering. The second is related to light ray bounces.
Wireless graphics cards
ASUS has developed a new standard for powering graphics cards that can power GPUs up to 1000W without wires. This is the second revision of BTF and is a connector next to the PCIe x16 slot. The first graphics cards to equip this connector will still be compatible with traditional power methods.
Core i7-1360P
Someone has brought us a Core i7-1360P. It comes with 4 P cores and 8 E. The Raptor Lake laptop has a performance very similar to the Ryzen 5 3600X and barely manages to enter the top 100.
