Hello, a question
-
Hello I have a desktop PC with a B360M D3H motherboard and an Intel I3 8100 processor with 4 cores, it belongs to my grandson and he wants to improve it so he can play games, this computer does not have a graphics card, is it possible to take advantage of something or will I have to replace everything, what do you advise me?
Thank you -
@cinusara You can get an idea in the processor comparison tool.
You go to https://bm.hardlimit.com/ and click on Compare
An example of the intel i3 8100 against an AMD Ryzen 5600G which is one of the most economical configurations you can build.
In single-threaded mode, the intel one still maintains its dignity despite its age (released in 2017), but overall it has nothing to do with a not too new 5600G (released in 2021).
Current games, forget it. But you can get the most out of it with the catalog of Gog.com

Best regards!

@Fassou Hello, I'm already tired of racking my brains and I'm going to go for the practical approach but always consulting those who understand this, I've looked at this computer https://www.beep.es/dl-ntw28364-ordenador-gaming-netway-pba-nruy--i7-12700f-2-1ghz--32gb-3200mhz--1/p?srsltid=AfmBOoqh1r10HYjk5AgQN7uJSHO4bACMwPKCShZVEVkWRd9R3qXBsspJ
or this other https://www.beep.es/dl-ntw28363-ordenador-gaming-netway-pba-nruy--i5-12400f-2-5ghz--32gb-3200mhz--1/p?srsltid=AfmBOopaE0cZViliOuYy6UJnhKAxy1pyljy0THjdw7U19ZNrdKRbnKyD
I would like to know your opinion regarding quality and price. Thank you. -
Hello, @cinusara. I would say that you go for the cheaper one because with an i5 12400F you will have more than enough to run a 4060 and for the games the work should be done by the graphics card and it is the same in both cases. Therefore, save money on the CPU because you will not notice any difference. Believe me that with 6 cores it is more than enough and you have more than enough RAM, because with 16Gigas it is also enough. But well, 32 seems to be the new standard...Best regards.

@pos_yo Well thank you very much I will follow your advice and get the i5 thank you very much

@cinusara I would also opt for the i5, because the i7 is a good processor but those extra cores for gaming are not going to help you, it's another thing if you wanted to give it a use for more productivity applications. But let's go with that equipment you will be able to play very calmly for a long time.
Greetings!!
