External drive is not recognized
-
Dear,
I have a dilemma with an external drive (WD Mypassport Ultra) of 1 TB. It is not detected by any laptop except one, and by a specific USB port. I have formatted it but nothing is achieved to connect with other laptops.
For example, the only laptop that recognizes it has 3 USB ports (A, B and C) and it is only recognized by port A, if I connect it to the other 2 ports it does not recognize it.
What could be the reason for this situation with this external drive? -
Hello @ricky21-0
Are USB ports the same? Is it possible that it doesn't work when you connect it to a USB port that is blue and only works when you connect it to a black one? I can only think of it being a problem of incompatibility with USB 3.0 ports, that's why I'm asking you.
If you have the possibility, I would also try with another USB cable. -
What @krampak says and something else that comes to mind is that you activate some encryption system on that computer with some WD app
