Security flaw in Firefox
Mozilla has released a security patch for Firefox. The flaw was discovered in the Pwn2Own contest. No details of the hole have been released and the updated versions are 138.0.4, ESR 128.10.1 and ESR 115.23.1
Pioneer abandons optical drives
Pioneer has said it will stop manufacturing optical drives such as Blu-Ray players and DVD recorders. The company began its journey in this segment with the manufacture of CD-ROM recorders in 1995 and ends it with a Blu-Ray recorder model that it released last year.
Core i5-12500T
Krampak brought us a Core i5-12500T the other day. It has 6 Alder Lake cores with which it does not enter the top 100 multithread but its 100 thousand single-thread points leave it halfway through the top 100 single-thread.
Malicious Unicode characters
This entry explains how Unicode characters can be used in programming to cause security failures using symbols that look similar to each other. The people at cURL have actually implemented a system that checks strings for special characters that are identical to classic ASCII characters.
Retro case with current components
An ATX case with a retro look that can house current hardware has been presented. The case has 3 molded 5.25-inch floppy drives and comes with the classic 7-segment display, a turbo button for the fans and a key to lock the power button.
Ryzen 5 5600GT
Someone has brought us a Ryzen 5 5600GT. The Zen 3 with 6 cores can't get into the top 100 and has a performance similar to the Ryzen 7 5800U laptop processor.
Mozilla closes Pocket
On July 8, Mozilla will pull the plug on Pocket. The service intended to save pages to read them later was acquired by the organization in 2017 and in 2019 it was included by default in Firefox. No very specific reasons are given for the closure, but it seems to be due to low use.
N150
The N150 is a low-power processor, intended to power the typical miniITX motherboards with integrated CPU and x86 tablets. Its 4 Gracemont cores, manage to exceed 100 thousand points with a TDP of only 6W. In addition, it matches the performance of the N95 with less than half its consumption.
