SteamOS 3.7 improves hardware compatibility

SteamOS version 3.7 comes with support for AMD generic platforms and several handheld consoles, among other manufacturers, Asus and Lenovo with the Ryzen Z1 and Z2 series.

Cheap 10Gbps network controller

Realtek has been working on a 10Gbps network controller that will cost about €10. It is expected that there will be cards and motherboards mounting this chip for this year.

Linux 6.15 available

Version 6.15 of the Linux kernel is now available. Among other things, support for systems with more than 8 cores and more than 4GB of RAM in the 32-bit x86 architecture has been removed. New extensions for the RISC-V set have also been added and, as always, there is a long list of new hardware that will have support starting from this version.

Core Ultra 5 125U

Firefox 139 available

Yesterday someone brought us a Ryzen 7 8845HS. The Zen 4 8-core laptop reaches almost 700 thousand points, with which it achieves the 61st position in the general ranking.

Card with 28 SSD units

A company has presented a card that can house up to 28 M.2 drives totaling 224TB. It is powered by a 144-lane PCIe 5.0 switch that provides a flow of 109 Gbytes/s. It consumes 400W and costs about €3000.

Performance improvement in EXT4

A few days ago Linux 6.16 came out and it has been found that the performance of the EXT4 file system has improved notably in certain scenarios. One of them is in writing to MySQL databases, where there are improvements of 60 to 100%.
