Teclado portatil no va

un amigo, tiene un portatil acer 1603, tiene windows xp y de un dia para otro sin instalar ni tocar nada el teclado no le va
escribo esto aqui pq si meto knoppix si que le va bien, y lo que le ocurre es lo siguiente, las teclas que tienen el teclado numerico, osea las teclas que estan en azul, que hay que apretar la tecla "fn" para que escriba
pues de normal ahora le escribe los numeros, y pulsando la tecla fn le escribe las letras, osea, al reves
qeu le puede pasar? qeu tipo de teclado tiene que tener configurado, este tiene un teclado 102 enl a configuracion, que es lo tipico
pq se le va la olla o si alguien sabe de algun caso como este y como solucionarlo
