No me abre ventanas java ni funciona buscar!

No sé exactamente lo que pasa, pero ni funciona la busqueda de archivos en el explorador de windows ni me abre las ventanas de javascript… tengo instalada la maquina java y habilitada en las opciones de IE.
Supongo que a alguien más le habrá ocurrido, pero no he encontrado una solucion en ningun lado.
Os agradezco cualquier ayuda que me podais dar.
