Problemas con usb

Buenas, resulta que tengo un Windows XP Professional y al instalarle el servicepack 1 o 2 automaticamente me deja de responder los puerots usb. Si intento reinstalar los controladores me indica que los controladores estan instalados o no se encuentran disponibles.
¿Como puedo hacer para instalar los servicepack?.

intenta desinstalar el controlador antes de actualizarlo , exactamente no responden pero estan alli o sea en hardware lo detecta o no salen ni en el administrador de dispositivos?
